The British International School, Victoria Island opened its doors to its first cohort of children in September 2001. The initial enrolment was 33, spread throughout Years 7 &endash; 11. Numbers stand, currently, at 125. There are already 22 nationalities represented in the School. A Sixth Form began in September 2002. The British International School is a Day and Boarding School and the School is particularly looking for staff that will give willingly and freely to Boarding life. Teachers who can offer a variety of subjects are particularly encouraged to apply. This is an ideal opportunity to be instrumental in the development of an International School that offers a quality education to children from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures. The School aims for excellence in all spheres, but recognises that certain students may have difficulties in certain areas of the curriculum; therefore a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is sought for September 2003. Experience with English as a Second or a Foreign Language would be an advantage. The curriculum is primarily based on the National Curriculum for England. At the appropriate age, examinations are offered at the end of Key Stage 3, in IGCSE, A/S and 'A' levels. Teaching staff are 20 in number and 75% are internationally recruited. Most staff are staying on for the Academic Year 2003/4 but, due to some staff leaving and further growth in pupil numbers anticipated for next year, we are seeking applications from teachers who are capable of offering the following subjects across the full age and ability range: Enquiries can be made, in the first instance, by telephone to + 234 1 7748066/2673265 or by e-mail to bis@infoweb.abs.net or kenbaines@hotmail.com or kenbaines@infoweb.abs.net Further information can be obtained from the School's website on www.bis-nigeria.com |
