Salary: A full time salary, with benefits i.e. medical insurance, work permit and paid holiday leave (15 days per year+around 13 Thai national holidays) is between 32,000 and 38,000 THB depending on qualifications and experience. The bonus after one year is 30,000 THB. The bonus after two years is 80,000 THB.

Working conditions: You would work for a maximum of 96 hours per month at a convent school based in the center of Bangkok. At the convent school the girls are aged between 4 ˆ 18 years. The lessons are 40-50 minutes long and contain around 15 to 25 students. There is also a biligual program which has the following subjects taught using English;science, maths, P.E., Art, Sociology.

Airfare: Once you have passed the three month probationary period you will be reimbursed 50% of your airfare.

Accommodation: The price for accommodation varies, however the average price for a decent apartment (bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, hot water, cable TV etc.) is between 6 to 9,000 THB per month. This would be in central Bangkok. (It is very easy to get cheaper apartments which are more basic, or on the outskirts).

Cost of Living: Again this varies depending on how you live. To eat Thai food on the street is 25-30 THB. To eat in a reasonable restaurant (any style of food) will usually cost no more than 200 THB. Transport is also cheap. To go across Bangkok from end to end in a taxi is no more than 150 THB, with the average fare (depending on distance) being 50-70 THB.

I would like to add that when you convert the salary into your home currency, it may seem low, however it will provide you with a good lifestyle as the cost of living in Thailand is very different when compared to England. Added to this you get long paid holidays, and you will definitely finish work before 16:30 (often you will finish at 15:30). We have many opportunities to do extra work in the evenings and at weekends which is paid at an overtime rate, and in Bangkok there is a lot of corporate English work (which we will do soon) which averages 600 THB per hour. I have one contract I arranged myself which pays 1,200 THB per hour. Since this occurs in the evening there is no problem with schedule conflicts. With extra work on the side, it is very easy to earn 50-70,000 THB, and this is really not difficult to manage within a typical work day, Monday to Friday. I strongly advise you to check out the internet to confirm what I say, and you will see the package is competitive with other organizations. Many require weekend work, long hours (morning to evening) and very short holidays.

Look at www.ajarn.com This will give you a good background into Thai life as a teacher. Thailand is an outstanding country, and it is a very easy place to live and work. Thai people are genuinely good people, and teaching in nearly all instances is nothing but a pleasure.

We are a private bilingual school in Thailand. Our school values hands-on approaches with use of songs and games over lectures or rote learning. We need two full-time teachers to begin in May - one to work with our anuban program (3-5 year olds) and one with our pratom (elementary) program. We are looking for people who are energetic, felxible, creative, love kids and work well within a team environment.

We are located in the North East of Thailand in an agricultural region. The school is located in the province's capital - a University town. The pay we can offer is 16,000 Baht per month with housing included or 18,000 Baht month without housing. Though this is significantly less than a lot of the schools in Bangkok can offer, the cost of living here is also so much less that it evens out to about the same. The salary is plenty to live on with enough left over for travel etc. We also offer excellent health benefits. You can send a copy of your resume/CV and a scanned photo to my e-mail address at kikkeren@yahoo.com
